SOMAC - Play A Bit Of History         SOMAC - The Childhood Preserver

Technical Overview

The technical & functional aspect for SOMAC is far beyond of those in a real Arcade Machine and those other homebuilt or rearranged cabinets made by other amateurs like me out there.
However, I will be so bold and state that the SOMAC features ideas that "will bring the rest of the amateurs way back in time".....

Main PC based around a 2.8Ghz Pentium with GeForce FX4400 Nvidia, 1GB Ram, 200GB HD

Second PC (hooked up to touch screen) based around a 233Mhz Pentium2 with Nvidia Rage Pro, 256MB Ram, 3GB HD.

20 inch Television to get that old frequency and old arcade feeling.

12 Inch TFT Touch screen with own software for choosing hardware/genre to simulate/play. (Via RS-232 to Core Center)

Own written revolutionary 3D MATRIX CORE MENU SYSTEM software for selecting games. (Screenshots in 3D Space)

Own designed and reconstructed PCB keyboard.

CD-Rom's trays reconstructed as moving KeyPad Trays.

Own constructed insert coin slide tray with counter.

Mileage Recorder when playing car games.

DOME CORE CENTER switch. (Total control of the machine)

No stupid "PC-cabinet-stucked-into-a-wooden-box-with-a-CRT-screen" type of thing!

All PC hardware parts are mounted directly on the interior walls. CD-Rom, Floppy, availability on the back. USB in front.

Wireless network support via Wireless LAN.

Multiple power adapters, 6V, 5V, 12V & 220V.

Numerous fans to provide steady cooling.

Kick ass sound atmosphere and music composed by myself.

Rotatable control set (no loose parts lying around), that features:

2 x Joysticks, 2 x tracker balls, flight stick, steering wheel and pedal, mouse, keyboard & pinball buttons++

Rotating TV screen concept (horizontal or vertical play). Based on a old bicycle wheel.

Maniac "robot head construction art" that makes The Terminator/Robocop look like babies in comparison.

Extremely fantastic artwork all-over.

Detailed pre-production and 3D - modelling done in Lightwave 8.x.

Intelligent and well thought of solutions.

In yer face Logitech X-620 6:1 sourround sound system.

That cheesy old blurred TV look made possible due to a VGA->COMPOSITE converter.

That depth of tv-screen 15-20cm behind the actual plexiglass itself.

2 x bottle holders, ashtray, and bar chairs.

30% of the machine was made out of plain junk or partly working electronics brought together in a new way.

Own SOMAC Database with support for approx 26000 games per. Nov 2005.

Built to support either light gun or 3D glasses in future.

Built to support speech recognition.

Emulates: Classic Arcade Machines, Commodore 64, Commodore Amiga, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64,
SEGA Genesis, SEGA Master System, SEGA Game Gear, Gameboy Advance, NEC TurboGrafx 16, Atari 5200/7800/Lynx
