Introduction & Background

This creation and idea emerged after I decided to buy some new furnitures for my living room. At first I was only going to change out the sofa and maybe the sofa table, but as time progressed and since my creative nature does not hold me back, I thought of making it a really full blown living room refresh project that was one of a kind and unique...why not?!.

If you look at the picture above here, you can REALLY see that the old living room was a dump!

At first I played with the oriental feel and look in my mind which included curtains on the walls with golden dragons and typical oriental symbols. But, having a black colored room might be very dramatic and quite depressive so I went for a more stylish, sexy and pornographic approach. Out of the blue...erhhm red came the idea of choosing a strong red color for the curtain and the concept evolved into the Red Room project.

And since black is also one of my favourite colors it quickly became very clear. Red and black are a really powerful combination. But, it did not stop there. Glass and chrome is also very stylish and futuristic so naturally the whole living room would consists of mostly these colors and attributes.

At the time I was not aware of the "Red Room" concept in the 90s television show "Twin Peaks" until a friend told me so! I did not see all the Twin Peaks episodes in the 90s because it never fitted my time schedule. Anway, when I did a search for "The Red Room & Twin Peaks" in Google then concept was there allright! Heck it was even sites totally devoted to the "Red Room" concept which was of a spiritualistic nature and maybe even some magic involved. Very exiting!

At that point I knew this was the right choice and term for my project which early on was called "The Red Room". I added "Dimension" to it to make it more my naming style and more unique if a search was performed on Google :)

During about 4-5 months I constructed a 3D model representation of my concept and the furnitures was carefully chosen and used as reference when designing it all. Since painting the walls or using wallpaper was WAY to boring and standard I had to put really huge, heavy and velvet/silke like curtains on the entire walls. Top to bottom!

I did some painting around the window part and roof/floor areas to make it even more in style.
The surround speakers was turned around and mounted in the wall instead of having them placed on the floor.

From that point is was really easy, just throw out the old shit and bring in the new furnitures as it was possible to do so. There are a few "before" and "during" the process pictures in the Construction Gallery.

The change is really from zero to 1000 :)

(Note that the 3D model representation/blue color area are not visible in the final physical creation)

I do whatever I hell feel like, why shouldn't you?!
