My music studio history
in Music | Tuesday, August 11, 2026 | 23:02

As I'm preparing to create 3 videos during 2026 that concerns my entire journey of making music in SoundTracker v2.4 (Amiga) in 1989, sweeping via FastTrackerV2.08 (PC) from 1996 to a full blown studio setup manifested until 2008, I just needed to get an perspective of when did I buy and upgrade my physical studio anyway?

Below after 2-3 hours of researching through my digital archive (derived from web history notes, old receipts (5842 pdf scans), old downloads, part memory and tracing my old 1997-2004 e-mail archives, these are the most precise Time of purchases I could gather. Many of them where to the actual date, but I omitted that as the month and year would suffice.

A solid purchase and upgrade run going on from 1997 to 2008, about a decade's worth.

This research below has an recent relation to my re-discovery of all my music albums - now becoming an planned target of AI generated Music Videos a.k.a. Cause I'mma AI slopper yes I am! project - just for the heck of it!

Summary:
Looking at the dates and years, it's clearly apparant that even if I had stop making music during 2005, new Headphones, new Mixer and new SubWoofer along with a new soundcard purchased - at least indicated that I might get back to composing music on physical gear in the future.

But, with so many other projects (including buying a house and refurbish it for 18 years+ along with getting married and having a daughter + a gadzillion other projects the time is not there) - the free time after day-time work since I was 17 years old is the cause of that :-)

It is now, during my planning of my own "Oakvalley RetroLab" that the physical studio and all gear is planned to be put back together, after beeing packed down into boxes all the way since I moved to my new house in Summer of 2008.

Fun Facts
- Did you know that I actually sent a couple of tracks from my two finished albums (The End of The Highway and The Bakka Baou Project) to Armin Van Buuren (Dutch DJ and musician) back in 2009?

I started listning to his online radio show "A State Of Trance" in 2001 and I'm still listning to that even to this date (2026) every week :-)

Anyway - I never heard anything back from him - guess the mail is just slow. I'll wait some more then!

- Did you know that I also sent demo tracks to Warner Music Norway and Universal Music Norway too during 2002 and 2004? I never heard anything - but this is in Norway, so the mail "should" been faster, haha. Well, I'll just keep waiting some more then.

- Did you know some of my tracks was played on "NRK-P3 / mPetre" back in 1998/1999? Of course you do - they responded right away!
