For The Poison (Prodigy) - 100% Look-a-like video!

This music video was the latest and greatest we ever did. It features a great deal of detail and tight editing. Even those small visual effects are noticed and re-created in our look-a-like video by using early 3d software and video paint editing software in 1998. It was edited on Adobe Premiere 4.2.

Below you can watch:
1: The music video
2: The comparision Prodigy vs EMvFX (us)
3: The Making of our Poison

Summary:

- Filmed on 17th and 24th of July 1998 in Nedre Vats, Norway.
- Worktime for filming: 9 hours split on 2 days.
- Worktime for editing: 15 days, (around 150 hours)
- Worktime for effects: 5 days, (around 42 hours)
- Total time spent: 21 days (201 hours)
- Total amount of money used: 400,- NOK or $51 USD

Technical Equipment used:

- Panasonic MS4 SVHS - Main camera.
- Panasonic NV-FS88 HQ SVHS - Playback and record.
- P300MMX/128mb/9.8gb/Software - All editing/CG work.
- MiroVideo DC30 - Framegrabber in S-VHS, capturing of raw-footage.
- Commodore 1084s - Videomonitor at location and in studio.

How we did it:

We had the orginal Poison music video by Prodigy inserted into a videoplayer and watched it second for second, to see what scene we would have to film next. We placed the camera, agreed on how it would move, tried different lamps, we moved ourselves into position, put on some music and filmed each scene 3-4 times. This to ensure that I had enough material for the final editing. The whole thing went very smooth, and we had no problems at all, well actually there was one light bulb that went into the floor, I am afraid :((( Shame, because it was brand new 100w bulb. Another neat thing: We had about 2 hours of raw footage, edited down to 4 minutes:) Where did the rest go? Well, we also made The Making Of Poison running for 12 minutes.

Actors:

Maxim Reality - played by Geir Vidar Tveit (The vocalist)
Keith Flint - played by Stein Eikesdal (The twisted maniac)
Liam Howlett - played by Tor Lærdal (The drummer)
(Sorry, we did not include Leeroy, we had a hard time finding someone to play him)

Technical Crew:

Lars S.O. - Camera operator
Peder Lærdal - Light & playback operator.
Ragnar Finnvik - Light operator

All other work done by:

Stein Eikesdal from Eikesdal Movie Effects(EMvFX)

(We tried to copy ALL of the computer effects that Prodigy had hidden in their Poison video) (Watch very closely and you will see them also, they are quite cool)

Thanks must go to the following people:

Tore Nordtveit and Heidi Nygård - bought a new house, and let us use the cellar for location.
Leif Ånestad Johannessen - for lending us his drums
Trygve Meland - for helping us with the drumset-search.
Ragnar Finnvik - for providing us with the nesscessary harddisk-space (4.3gb)

All the positive feedback we get from the local community and those who have seen it! To Prodigy for making such cool music for our heads! And actually, without them, nothing of this would ever happen in the first place!
