Commodore Computers, Oslo, authentic & original Technical Support folder
in Nostalgia | Tuesday, January 21, 2025 | 21:40

This is an quite cool authentic and original Commodore branded folder of Technical Support internal papers from their office during the 90's, including 2 x 5.25" floppy disks. This item was not purchased by me, but sent to me for lending and scanning, then it will be returned to sender.

I have seen Danish and English versions of these before, but never came across Norwegian versions. All material are in Norwegian Language only. Dates of pages seems to range from 1988 to 1992.

Total amount of scans: 140 pages + 2 x 5.25" floppy disks.

The folder was divided into sections and have been preserved as organized:
Section 0: Who does what in Technical Support + section overview
Section 1: Cover letter and 2 x physical 5.25" Support Floppies.
Section 2: C64, C128 (D), 1540/41 & 1570/71
Section 3: Amiga 500/2000
Section 4: --- Empty ---
Section 5: PC 1 & PC 10/20 (I/II/III)
Section 6: PC 40 (III) & PC 60
Section 7: --- Empty ---
Section 8: --- Empty ---
Section 9: Printer
Section 10: Various
Section 11: Warranty Terms, Service Procedures, Repair Centre's
Section 12: Order routines, Parts and Parts prices.

Technical Details - 2 x floppies
The Commodore 5.25" floppies are 40 Track Double Sided (DS) Double Density (DD) (9 sectors per track, 512 bytes per sector; 40*2*9*512/1024=360K).

Disk 1:
The first disk (1 of 2) I had problems copying files from, and also lots of issues getting a good image generated from it. Even directory listing where partial only. No matter what I tried, this disk are not 100% readable (at least in my drive). Probably the disk have been preserved as English versions? Maybe a Kryoflux device would manage to make an image of it?

Well, my attempts for getting a good read was aborted as these floppies are not my property and I don't want to risk and play around more than needed.

I added whatever came out of my 2-3 attempts, directory listing, partial .IMG file and some random files I managed to extract into a .zip file.

Disk 2:
The second disk (2 of 2) read totally fine with no errors, entire directory listing was also created. I have added both the .IMG diskimage below, as well as an extract of all files into .zip file.

Disk 1 directory works!

Disk 2 directory works!

I used ImageDisk (IMD) in MS-DOS 6.22 with these settings for my BIOS configured 360KB 5.25" floppy drive.

Disk 2 was read most likely successfully. At least I managed to extract every file on it.

WinHEX reports the partial disk 1 is really broken.

WinHEX does not warn me about anything for disk 2
