My Amiga Animations
in Nostalgia | Sunday, July 27, 2014 | 22:33

We shall start in no particular order with animations created by me mostly in Deluxe Paint 2,3,4, but also in Lightwave 3D, Real 3D and CineMorph!

All work was done on Amiga 500 (1.3/2.04) and Amiga A1200 (3.0/3.1) machines between 1990-1998. At the time of which I was 16-24 years old.

The animations range from small intro's to my friends projects or to my own music videos and movies including just some basic frame grabbing from well known films such as; Total Recall and Scanners. Also, some random animations were created for no particular projects, just messing around in Deluxe Paint 3 mostly.

Creating these animations on Amiga 500 with so little memory was a real challenge and the lack of hard disk space proved to be even more challenging in the days where floppy disks costs like a fortune each! The animation were basically saved on several disks and cut to fit during storage and before I could get the money to buy real expensive harddrives for the Amiga.

This page consists of Amiga ANIM files converted to Animated GIF at about 17mb, so please be patient while loading.

A cool introduction me and my friend Geir used for out very amateur home made music videos around 1992-1994.

A obvious full screen capture to the Amiga of the making of Star Wars showing a Tie Fighter blew up in slow motion.

Just the intro for "The making of Knut Mollvik", the explosion in the end is from Star Wars.

A obvious full screen capture to the Amiga of the making of Terminator 2, with the T-1000 actor and the model.

A tiny little sprite I created in Deluxe Paint based on the C64 game Ghostbusters. This was for my own Amiga re-make which never was made fully. There is only two levels in my game, but they are not even fully playable.

Probably my first ever special CGI effect which consist of my own face, a plastic cover on it and at the end a rubber mask. It was morphed with CineMorph.

A composite test within Deluxe Paint, I even thought of the shadow.

A obvious full screen capture to the Amiga from the head explosion movie called Scanners.

My first attempt of doing a stop-motion animation with capturing with Vidi Amiga and editing done in Deluxe Paint.

An slow fading intro made in Scala MM400 for my look-a-like music video called Firestarted, which was premiered in The Gathering 1997 in Hamar, Norway.

A uber-cool real life capture of a burning letter which is the symbol for one of the demo groups on Amiga I was member of called Procyon together with Svein Engelsgjerd a.k.a. SV.

An effect done in Deluxe Paint which mimic the effect from Terminator 2 where T-1000 goes through the hospital steel bars and melts through it. I didn't have that, so I used a door instead.

The letter R beeing burned in real life. This capture was later cut out and pasted into the uber-cool Firestarter logo for the look-a-like music video of the same name. Each letter was put on fire and animated together, and was a stunning piece of composition at that time.

Yet another crazy effect done in Deluxe Paint. My head coming out of a toilet....classic.

An fake vector animated logo for my friend Lars and my own name, Stein to form the logo of LAST film.

Just an animation done in Deluxe Paint which was a intro for my friend Lars and his school project movie about environment in the traffic.

Another uber-cool effect based on the movie Terminator 2 showing my hand with a hole in it. Again done in Deluxe Paint on Amiga sometime in 1991-1992.

A pretty advanced animation consisting of rendering from Real 3D, a lot of frames, a lot of memory and it was supposed to be part of a introduction to some amateur music videos with my friend Geir. The animations were quite heavy and was never fully realized or used in any way.

A different part of the music video introduction related to the one above.

A cool intro done in Deluxe Paint for my own version of A Nightmare At Elm Street with me starring as Freddy Krueger.

A different part of the music video introduction related to the ones seen above. This one was fully completed and shows my face.

Just a quick statement for our Firestarter music video at the Wild Compo during The Gathering 1997.

Pretty stupid animation for a project I can't remember.

An intro rendered in LightWave 3D, with morphing done in CineMorph and finally put together into Deluxe Paint. This intro was used in my short film "Knut Mollvik - An interview the artist / A tragedy" in the 1997 version.

This capture was supposed to be used in some kind of Full Motion demo on the Amiga 500 or Amiga 1200. Since it was impossible to have full screen animation with so many frames at once in memory, it was cut down to 1/16 of the screen and later to be scaled full screen with the Amiga blitter and some kind of scanline/noise filter applied to it. Actually this idea evolved and was used in my Amiga demos in 1996/1997 called PCPuke and Powerdeath, where we had several minutes of footage only on a single Amiga floppy disk!

Just a simple sprite created in Deluxe Paint for my game called Mafia Exterminator which was never programmed in any way useable to play with.

A pretty cool Lightwave 3D rendered animation showing my old !DmP! (Demonoid Productions) logo used during my Amiga time and later in the PC world and during my early days of music composing and other creative productions.

Just a simple sprite created in Deluxe Paint for my game called Mafia Exterminator which was never programmed in any way useable to play with.

Another intro for my friend Lars who used it in a short about the fuel usage if you drew several together or just you and your lunch box.

A cool rendering done in Lightwave 3D. It was supposed to be an asteroid.

A obvious 1/16 screen capture to the Amiga from the movie Total Recall. I had plans to make a quiz program where you would guess what movie the clip came from. It was completed with only 10 questions I think..haha

An intro to my friend Lars's movie called Bad Purpose which was a parody on James Bond...only done by Norwegians and thus named "Jens Bånn". The movie was never finished or published partly anywhere.....it is still on this private tapes.

More intro animation credits for the movie Bad Purpose by Lars.

More intro animation credits for the movie Bad Purpose by Lars.

And that concludes 95% of the animations I could manage to dig out of my old Amiga Nostalgica archive.
