My collection of (mini / embedded) PC Motherboards
in Nostalgia | Sunday, August 03, 2025 | 20:46

Over the years I gathered obsolete hardware known as "Single Board Computers", mostly used in industrial applications. These cards would not fit any standard ATX based PC cabinets. I just want do document these, so its easy to find hardware for future projects.

As far as I can remember, these cards was tested by me during 2000-2015, but many of them require wierd cables and/or pretty old memory SIMM's and cache. But, with a little effort these smaller Industrial Embedded systems type of motherboards can serve MS-DOS and Windows 3.1 / 95 / 98 / ME in some capacity.

A similar looking motherboard was also used to design my Dynamic Art Stand with a display mounted together with the motherboard. Check out my Stone Oakvalley's Dynamic Art Stand (SODAS) project for more information!
The motherboard was (Inside Technology 1997 - 686LCD/S CPU BOARD).

When I went through these cards, I was hoping that any of them would support MDA/Hercules type of graphics, but it seems there are no ISA slots and/or 9-pin supports on any of them. My hope was to find a PC board that could give me an video signal on my IBM 5151 CRT Amber Monochrome monitor from 1983.

Inside Technology 686LCD/S
Max 256MB RAM, 50/60/66MHz FSB
Supports Intel Pentium CPU's
A bunch of connectors, either exposed or as headers onboard.
1 x HDDSUB 15-PIN VGA
1 x USB1.0
1 x RS232 Serial Com
1 x PS/2 Mouse and or combined keyboard
1 x RJ-45
Year 1999

More info (but their connectors list are way off in comparsion to my cards).

This particular card is currently installed in my SODAS (Stone Oakvalley Dynamic Art Stand).
