My collection of Nintendo TV/Video Game Consoles
in Nostalgia | Monday, September 22, 2025 | 21:00

Thought I would just for my own personal reference write down in history the current Nintendo based machines I have (NES, WII and DS). These was either found free at trash places or purchased cheap in thrift shops during 2017-2025.

As documented more in detail on my My computer history post, here's some visual images to go along with that.

To be honest, I'm not a very huge fan of Nintendo Game Consoles, the company itself and its game library. I don't really know why, but I believe its because the very first time I witnessed a Nintendo NES at my cousin place in 1986, I was shocked on how cheap and lightweight it felt. It felt like DUPLO lego - it felt like something a toddler and very young children would enjoy much - and that sense has stuck with me ever since.

But, it does not mean I will not try them, buy them (if the price is right), because I'm curious about the hardware and the games. Now, I shall admit that I was a very huge fan of the "Nintendo Game & Watch", Bronza and Tronica LCD handheld games way back in 1982 to 1985. These were awesome, and at that point in time I was 8 to 11 years old. I would suppose as my brain grew and developed, the Nintendo NES I tried for like 3 minutes back in 1986, I was starting to become a youth and the mind was set on "leave the childish things behind". I was 12 years old in 1986. Well, history shows that I did not really enter the full grown personality that many others took. Eventually in the late 90's and early 00's I noticed (at 26 years of age) I was not finished with my past and just entered the world of nostalgia and retro for the rest of my life :-)

Maybe that is why I just naturally felt it looked like DUPLO lego as up until that time, I had already tried the Atari 2600, rented a lot of ColecoVision and Mattel IntelliVision machines and even played on an Amstrad CPC-464 (real computer) before I could lay may hands on the Nintendo NES. Most likely a year after (1987) I would get my very first real computer (Commodore 64) which naturally we could play games on, but most importantly, make music, graphics and programming. NES didn't have any of that, so it would always become a true "toy" in that sense. It does not matter if it was 1986 or 2025 - the Nintendo machines and its games are just lame I'm sorry to say. I have stated many times in my videos and posts on my website that my interrest was always within graphics, music, programming, video and multimedia. I do enjoy games alot, but its never my 1st preference for any Video Game console or computer alike devices.

Many many years later, during 2017-2025 I always grabbed any kind of Nintendo machine if I saw it in flee markets, at trash places or in thrift shops, because there have to be at least some games on these machines that I would actually like to play. My problem is that Nintendo is so japanese and its flooded with these jap-style short dwarf figures with 10000's of messages for those games (like Zelda). In fact, Mario Bros on Nintendo to me is awful, as we had Great Giana Sisters on the C64 which kicked the knocks of the Mario games. Yes, it was a "clone" based version, but it felt just correct. To be honest, I don't like Mario at all, I absolutely find that character so boring and unappealing - at that goes for every Mario variation of games, new and old. It's just a character that I do not adore at all.

All machines below are all PAL versions.
