LCD Games (hand held) I used to own or play in the 80's
in Nostalgia | Wednesday, April 30, 2025 | 07:56

NOTE: The following pictures and items are not my own, as I have lost all the LCD Hand Held games me and our family used to either own or borrow from friends.

I just thought I had to document the memories of these!

As a little side story connected to my efforts into creating a storyline of my entire computer history, I came across this category that helped define the person I am today :-)

Now, the years are a bit fuzzy here, but footage from April/May 1983 reveals at least my cousin showing off "Snoopy Tennis", meaning that this was the years were new devices came into my hands to play with. I remember owing my own game, but my brother and two sisters also bought their own.

During the years, a multitude of games where played and we would simply swap with friends during a couple of years, which meant we could play so much more, instead of buying all of these titles below. I specifically have fond memories that our local gas station (Shell) had a WALL! filled with these games for sale.

April or May 1983, filmed by my uncle on real 8mm/16mm super film reel!

My cousin showing of the LCD Handheld game which I believe must have been"Snoopy Tennis" by the color of it. Shortly thereafter he holds the game close to the camera, but due to the added light my uncle used the entire LCD game was white due to reflections. At the end of the clip he gets hold of my game "Patrol" and also holds this up to the camera, before the film ends.

I (Stone Oakvalley), yup, that is me with the "DBS" cap, which was a Norwegian bicycle company "Den Beste Sykkel", where I'm eating my cake during my older sister's church confirmation after-party in our home.

I was 9 years old here!

By the way: In the back was our CRT color television where we played Atari 2600 most likely from 1981 or so!

My cousin reaching for the "Patrol" game (my own), while I stuff my mouth with cake and briefly for a few frames looked at the camera.

Just 5 seconds later my cousin holds up the "Patrol" game, but then the footage was cut off. The entire sequence here lasted for about 11 seconds only!

Patrol
by Bronza, 1982
Single Screen

This was the same I bought way back in 1982 or 1983. Many years later my brother or my cousin took it and probably sold it or has it in their collection. Yeah, so I have lost it.

Donkey Kong
by Nintendo's Game & Watch, 1982
Dual Screen

I don't remember quite the story for this, but is was probably my older sister or brother who owned it.

Egg
by Nintendo's Game & Watch, 1981
Single Screen

I believe this was one of the games we swapped and borrowed for a while.

Mario Bros
by Nintendo's Game & Watch, 1983
Dual Screen

I'm pretty sure this was my brother first bought game.

Mickey & Donald
by Nintedo's Game & Watch
Dual Screen

If I remember correctly, this was my oldest sister first bought game.

Mickey Mouse
by Nintendo's Game & Watch, 1981
Single Screen

I believe this was one of the games we swapped and borrowed for a while.

Snoopy Tennis
by Nintendo's Game & Watch, 1982
Single Screen

This was the first LCD game I remember my older sister show to me!

Turtle Bridge
by Nintendo's Game & Watch, 1982
Single Screen

I believe this was one of the games we swapped and borrowed for a while.

Treasure Island
by Tronica's Game & Watch, 1983
Triple Screen

This was my brother's second LCD game he bought. It eventually broke on the hinges and where left for parts many many years. Eventually my brother or my cousin got hold of it and either sold it, or kept in their collection.
