A quick side-project to finalize something I started on back in 2003!
Taken from the first book's introduction:
I am Stone Oakvalley - a real old-schooler, the creator of both this book and the amazing homebuilt Stone Oakvalley's Multi Arcade Console 2000 (SOMAC).
The highly insane project started out as a scribble on paper during 21th of December 2003. After some years, it was finally ready to be powered on during the night of 2nd of July 2005. Working just fine!
During the planning, design, construction and programming I had to generate a good library of games that were to be included on the SOMAC hard drive. After many months of hard work, not only did I manage to have a in-game screenshot of every game, but also constructed my own 9-logic Genre database (SGIL) to maintain a easy structure of everything back in 2003-2005.
The end result of total games installed was 26206 !
All compiled from retro gaming systems such as; Classic Arcade Machines, Commodore 64, Commodore Amiga, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, SEGA Genesis, SEGA Master System, SEGA Game Gear, Gameboy Advance, NEC TurboGrafx 16, Atari 5200/7800/Lynx including some games for Standard PC and SONY Playstation.
The "SOMAC - Bible of Games" book series (5 of them) initially started out as personal manual for my homebuilt arcade machine to display all of the 26206 screenshots in a nice presentable book to allow a more old way of finding "that" game to play on my Arcade Machine.
It wasn't until October 2014 that I could finally realize and finalize the book and make it available for the public, not only as free PDF download, but also as a physical printed book for those who want that option. Much due to the fact I was and is constantly busy with other creative projects everyday, often 3 or more at once!
Keep in mind that this book is not a complete compendium of "all-that-once-was", it is primarily a support function for my own Arcade Machine, but looking past that fact, I am sure that anybody interrested in such a way of presenting game screenshots could enjoy this book for what it's worth anyhow!
Yours truly, Stein Eikesdal a.k.a. Stone Oakvalley, 11th of October 2014.
